Poole’s proud emblem’s name was adopted by the group some decades ago.

While the drawing group’s members explore the boundaries of experimental art, it mainly concentrates on life-drawing. This proud group has been in existence for well over forty years and has nurtured and welcomed many talents.

The workshop meets every Tuesday at The United Reformed Church Hall in Lagland Street, Poole. 10.00am to 12.30pm. There is a membership fee that can be paid by the term or annually, along with a weekly contribution towards the cost of the model.

All the work is figure based, mainly nude, with a wide variety of models, and occasionally two models posing together as a tableau. Members work in a wide variety of media, and although there is no tuition, there is much discussion and sharing of ideas during the breaks.

Anoli Alkiene has a bachelor degree in History, although studying History of Art was very exiting, practicing Art became her passion. In 2011 her work was selected and appeared in Cork Street Open exhibition catalog in London. In 2012 Anoli took part in Dorset Art Weeks. Her illustrations can be found in children’s books published in Russia and the USA.
